Cardington : Goldie Woodruff Truax, age 97, of Cardington died Sunday May 29, 2016 in the Marion General Hospital. She was born on February 3, 1919 in Marion County to the late John H. and Callie ( Gompf ) Beckel.
Goldie was a lifelong homemaker and gardener. She was a member of the Peace Community Church of Christ and the Cardington Senior Citizens.
Her first marriage was to Ralph Woodruff on Aug. 4, 1948 at the Waldo parsonage of Rev. Dorress. To this union she had one son Jay R. (Betty) Woodruff of Marion and 2 grandsons Jay M. Woodruff and Paul A. Woodruff and a step daughter Aretta Young of Findlay. After Ralph's death, Goldie, married Lowell A. Truax on Aug 15, 1958 who preceded her in death and he had two children a son Bruce Truax and a daughter who preceded her in death Patricia Trimmer.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Goldie was preceded in death by her brother Sanford Beckel and sisters Bertha Swearengin, Daisy Gruber, and Susie Beckel.
A graveside service will be held Friday June, 3, 2016 at 11:00am with a visitation time beginning at 10:00am at the cemetery. The services will be held at the St. John Reform Cemetery located at the corner of Mautz-Yeager and Firstenberger roads. The Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington is assisting the Woodruff and Truax families with Goldie's arrangements. Pastor Tom Scott will be officiating.
