Jeff Sutherland, 58, of Lancaster, SC, passed away with his loving family by his side Sunday, December 28, 2014. Born December 14, 1956, in Mount Gilead, Ohio, he was the son of the late Kellis and Cornie Edwards Sutherland. Jeff served in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion – Marengo, Ohio Post 0710. He was a free spirit loved by everyone he met, making them smile and laugh as he was a wonderful jokester and story-teller. Jeff was an avid motorcyclist, traveling with his friends all over the country, enjoyed boating, bonfires, spending time with his grandchildren and all of the simple things in life.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Donna; son, Lucas Sutherland; daughter, Carissa Ciuca and her husband, Eric; brother, Kenneth A. Sutherland and his wife, Elaine; sisters, Priscilla Jane Green and her husband, Joe, and Marilyn Sue Deel and her husband, Ted; grandchildren, Adam and Marin Ciuca; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by his brother, Mitchell Don Sutherland, and sister, Lily Teresa Sutherland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Legion – Marengo Memorial Post 0710, P.O. Box 77 Marengo, OH 43334, or 1 (419) 253-8975.
A celebration of life will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with lunch at 12 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015, at the American Legion facility, 1549 County Road 26 Marengo, OH 43334. Interment will be private.
