Richard Cullen Obituary

Richard Jennings Cullen, of Jensen Beach, Florida passed away on August 8, 2021 at the age of 70 after a short battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Rich was the beloved husband of Rebecca "Becky" Ann Cullen (Linn), whom he met when he was 15 years old and lovingly worked together with as a team for over 56 years. They celebrated 50 years of marriage on May 22, 2021.

Rich was born in Greenville, Pennsylvania, November 19, 1950 to John and Aretta Mae Cullen, both deceased. Richard is survived by his wife, Becky, his daughter Jennifer Linn and fiance' Chad Wood, son, Andrew Richard and his wife Emily, and his brother John. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Charles "Chuckie" and Dave Cullen.

Rich was an amazing Poppy to ten grandchildren: Hunter, Kailinn, Liam, Ryan, Abbie, Allie, Halle, Whitney, Lucy and Layla. He was the quiet force of reason, always an educator and learner and supported each one in working towards their goals. He fiercely loved each one and they were his pride and joy.

Rich began his teaching in Painesville, Ohio, and then his administration career in Fairport Harbor, Ohio but after a few years moved his family to Cardington, Ohio, to live and work in the community for over 20 years as the elementary principal. Rich dedicated his life to the students and families as well as the staff at Cardington Lincoln.

Rich was an active member of the Lake Manor Park in Jensen Beach, where he was a member of the Men's Club, treasurer of the Community Club and a board member. Rich focused on projects to improve life for all residents from water quality to the riverfront beach that brought the community together.

Rich loved learning, serving others, gardening, travel, parks and outdoor music. He and Becky were "Parrot-heads" and were often at restaurants or parks, listening to music. He enjoyed entertaining friends in their gardens in Cardington or on the front patio of Lake Manor. Rich and Becky traveled to Europe as well as throughout the US. They were known to find the off the beaten path attractions and the local places to eat and enjoy music. Their Christmas trees hold ornaments and memories of their travels and times together.

Celebrations of Life will be held at later dates to be determined. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Cardington Lincoln Elementary PTO for playground improvements.

To share a memory to celebrate Rich's life or expressions of sympathy may be sent to: Becky Cullen, 13827 Indian River Dr Lot #12, Jensen Beach, Florida 34957.
