Venetta Brown Obituary

Vineta Lee Brown, age 80, of Mount Gilead, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022.

On July 7, 1941, Vineta was born in Marion, Ohio, a daughter of the late Kenneth Eugene and Mary Ellen (Claypool) Dill. She graduated from Chesterville High School in the Class of 1959 and furthered her education by receiving her Associate's Degree from Columbus Business University.

As a junior in high school, Vineta met fellow classmate and eventual love of her life, Edwin "Ed" Lee Brown. They were married on Christmas Day in 1960 at the Chesterville United Methodist Church and shared a special bond as husband and wife that lasted over 61 wonderful years.

A woman of devout faith, Vineta was a long-time member of the Richwood First Baptist Church and in recent years a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Gilead. She always sang in the church choir and would play guitar and sing for weddings, funerals and other special events.

For many years, Vineta was an executive secretary for the North Union School District and then for the Delaware-Union County Educational Service Center.

Family meant everything to Vineta and she cherished time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and needlework. She knitted afghans and made many outfits, dresses and costumes over the years. She loved music, playing the guitar, and square dancing with Ed.

Vineta will be remembered as a faithful, loving and generous woman of God. She was a friend to all and always had a smile on her face. She liked nothing more than giving and receiving hugs.

Left to cherish Vineta's memory are her husband, Ed, of Mount Gilead; three children: Laurie (Jerry) Parsons of Powell, Tina (Mark) Hall of Marysville, Machelle (Kirk) Sharrock of Marysville; six grandchildren: Rebecca (Chris), Daniel, Lexi (Brandon), Wyatt (Meghan), Elizabeth, Jonathan: a great grandchild on the way; and two brothers: Larry (Kitty) Dill of TN and Ronald (Laura) Dill of FL.

Vineta's family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services to honor and celebrate her life will begin there at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Dr. Roger Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.

Memorial contributions in Vineta's name may be made to First Baptist Church, 51 W. High St., Mount Gilead, OH 43338.
