Rachael Owens Obituary

Rachael Darnell Owens, age 59, passed away on August 12th, 2025 at MUSC Charleston after an extended illness. She was born on October 13th, 1965 in Orangeburg county, SC to Mack and Florence Hood. She was a graduate of Elloree High School. She was crafty in so many ways and enjoyed making gifts for those she loved. She never met a stranger. She is survived by her daughters, Amanda Castro and Katelyn Owens, her grandsons Nathaniel and Clay Johnson, her significant other, Dan Redd, her siblings Judy Matayabas, Brenda Medlin, Paul Hood, Maria Ketcherside, Michael Hood and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her father and mother, her ex husband, Jim Owens, and her brothers, Nathan and James "Robin" Hood.
