Silas Wayne Gathers

Silas Wayne Gathers born on December 22, 1951 to the late Adam and Daisy Gathers, departed this life on June 18, 2025. Wayne was married to the late Geneva Mae Gathers and to this union they had 3 beautiful children. Wayne graduated from Bonds-Wilson High School at an early age. He was enlisted in the Armed Forces and also worked at Deyton's Ship Yard, Park Auto Parts and a vendor at Wise. After leaving Charleston, Wayne resided in Waynesboro, GA, in which he lived with his companion Mary Lewis for many years until his passing. For those of you who knew Wayne, each of you shared a special moment with him. He was known by some as "Lover" or "Charleston". Wayne didn't let anything or anyone hold him back from living his life. He loved all of his children, and even had a special bond with his grandson Amorria Gathers. There's a lot that could be said about Wayne, but one thing for sure is that he loved life. Wayne will truly be missed by many, his laughter, the way he held toothpicks in his mouth, and that simple smile he had on his face when he saw us. He leaves to cherish his memories his children, Gregory L. Gathers, Latonia Gathers-Singleton, Antonio Gathers, Dewayne Breland and Shavon Gathers-Young, his stepchildren; Damion Gathers and Larrell Lewis, 26 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, aunts; "Bay" Williams and Mary Anthony, uncles; Jake Anthony, Jr. and Harry Gathers, close friends; Henry (Val), EL, James, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
