Harry Lund Obituary

Written by Christi Schneider, a long time friend and admirer of Harry Lund
Harry Lund was born in 1931 in Columbus, Ohio, and moved to California during his senior year of high school, graduating from Alhambra High. He continued his education at Pasadena City College and Santa Monica College before serving in the U.S. Air Force in Germany. After his service, he earned a bachelor's degree from UCLA and a master's from Cal State Los Angeles.
Harry retired at age 55 after a fulfilling career teaching in Claremont, California. He then moved with his wife Lynne to Running Springs in the San Bernardino Mountains, where he spent the next 20 years deeply involved in his community. He founded the Winter Senior Games, served on the California State Senior Games Board and the National Board representing the Southwest U.S., and was active in the Running Springs Chamber of Commerce and Library Board. He was a founding member of the UCLA Bruins Club and served on the Mountain Community Hospital board. His faith was central to his life, and he served as both Elder and Deacon at Lake Arrowhead Presbyterian Church.
In 2005, Harry and Lynne moved to St. George, Utah, where he continued playing basketball and softball well into his 80s. His energy, commitment, and love for life were evident in everything he did.
Harry passed away on August 14, 2025, at the age of 94. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lynne, who was the first Activity Director in Skilled Nursing at Mountains Community Hospital. He also leaves behind his children, Linda-Louise Christensen and Christopher Lund, and their families, as well as three stepchildren: Raymond Kwiatek, Kyle Kwiatek, and Karen Green, and their families.
Harry will be missed by many who were touched by his life and loved him.
