Ann Ryan Obituary

Ann M. (Noonan) Ryan "Meme" Canandaigua- Ann M. Ryan, age 84, passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center. Ann was born Aug. 2, 1924 in Rochester and was the daughter of William and Margaret (Sheehan) Noonan. She spent her childhood years in Newark, N.Y. She was a graduate of the College of New Rochelle and worked in New York City and Rochester as a lab technician for the Atomic Energy Commission. In 1958 she married Norman L. Ryan. Ann had been a resident of Canandaigua since 1960 and spent the majority of those years on Gibson Street. She later resided at Clark Meadows and M. M. Ewing Continuing Care Center. Ann spent many of her years as a homemaker and later worked at Hunt's Paint Store in Canandaigua. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Rosary Altar Society. She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader and volunteered her time for the Red Cross Blood Drive. She also served on the Clark Meadows resident council. Her favorite times were spent watching her grandchildren's sporting events and chauffeuring them to all their activities. She is survived by her children, Kit (Bob) Palumbo of Canandaigua and Dr. Chris (Rochelle) Ryan of Endwell, N.Y.; grandchildren, Nicholas Palumbo (fiancé Emily Burns) of Leominster, Mass., Eric, Adam and Megan Palumbo of Canandaigua and Sarah, William, Heather and Linda Ryan of Endwell; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Margaret Noonan; husband, Norman L. Ryan; brother, William R. Noonan Jr.; and sister-in-law, Joanne Noonan. There will be no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, August 18, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Interment will be in Newark Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to Children's Heart Center, Strong Memorial Hospital, 601 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY 14642; or American Cancer Society, 2008 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, 1400 Winton Road. North, Rochester, NY 14609. Arrangements are by Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home Inc., Canandaigua.

I am so sorry for your loss. Kit & Chris, as a long ago neighbor and babysitter for you, I have many fond memories of your family. Your mother was a great lady who will be missed.
