Donald F. Johnson Loving husband, father and grandfather CANANDAIGUA - Donald F. Johnson, 81, died Aug. 26, 2008 at his home. Don was born Sept. 12, 1926 in Canandaigua and was the son of Floyd and Alice Johnson. He was a graduate of Kenmore High School, class of 1944, and the University of Rochester, class of 1948. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He retired in 1988 after 38 years of service with Rochester Gas & Electric. Don was a member of Turner-Schrader American Legion Post 34 in Shortsville, St. John's Episcopal Church in Canandaigua and Elks Lodge 2606 in Punta Gorda, Fla. He was an avid ice fisherman and woodworker. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Johnson; five children, Loraine (Gary) Lawrence, Christopher (Joan) Johnson, Kevin (Marcy) Johnson, Marcia (Robert) Peters and Anne (Keith) Winslow; 10 grandchildren, Kevin (Marne) Johnson, Mary (Adam) Tatar, Greta and David Johnson, Katherine, Maureen and Man Ting Lawrence, Karen (Nathan) Mclean and Christopher and Robin Peters; the tiny ones who went ahead to wait for grandpa; three sisters, Alice Smith, Ann (Francis) Walker and Carel (Fred) Mink; and brother-in-law, Philip (Patricia) Gilligan. Friends may call Friday, August 29, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Halsted-Patrick Funeral Home, 19 N. Main St., Manchester. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 30, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
