Dorothy Doty Obituary

Dorothy E. Doty Beloved wife, mother and grandmother PRATTSBURGH - Dorothy E. Doty lost her courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, March 7, 2010. Dorothy was born June 4, 1942. She was employed by Xerox Corporation for 31 years, retiring in 2004. She had a passion for the outdoors and loved spending time in her flower gardens and watching the deer in the backyard and the various species of birds that came to the feeders. Dorothy was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a wonderful, caring and kind-hearted person who always put her family first. She loved spending time with her family, especially caring for and hanging out with her grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Donald Doty; son, Daniel Doty (Sandy Ross) of Phelps; daughter, Donna (Brian) Deery of Prattsburgh; six grandchildren, PFC John Doty stationed in Germany, Scott Doty of Geneseo, N.Y., Brandy Doty of Onieda, N.Y., Elizabeth Deery of Trumansburg, N.Y. and Kari (Nicholas) Tandle and Brandin Wood, both of Lyons; great-grandchild, Nicolas Tandle III; brothers, Clarence (Shirley) Beach of Newfield, N.Y. and Delbert (Cathy) Beach of Elmira, N.Y.; sister, Gladys Perrault of Ithaca, N.Y.; sister in-law, Anita Harrelle of Griswold, Conn.; and a very large extended family of nieces, nephews and families. Dorothy was predeceased by her son, Dale; and sister, Bertha Beach. Private funeral services were held March 11 at 11 a.m. at Halsted-Patrick Funeral Home in Manchester. Donations in Dorothy's memory to Southern Tier Hospice, located in Corning, N.Y., would be greatly appreciated by the family.
