Douglas E. Armstrong 1925 -2008 PALMYRA - Douglas E. Armstrong, 83, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008. Family and friends are invited to call Monday, August 18, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Robert L. Yost Funeral Home Inc., 123 W. Main St., Palmyra. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 19, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 100 W. Main St., Palmyra. Burial will be in Palmyra Cemetery. Contributions in Doug's memory may be directed to Serenity House, 1278 Brace Road, Victor, NY 14564; or First Baptist Church, 100 W. Main St., Palmyra, NY 14522. Douglas was born March 13, 1925 in Russell County, Ontario, Canada. He and the former Vonnie Moke were married on July 17, 1947 in Canada. Doug was a member of First Baptist Church in Palmyra and had owned and operated Palmyra Western Auto Bike and Scout Shop for many years. He is survived by his daughter, Julie (Randy) Bowden of Newark; son, Steven (Janet) Armstrong of Shortsville; brother, Carl (Eleanor) Armstrong; sisters-in-law, Grace and Iva Moke; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Vonnie, who died Jan. 30, 2007; and seven siblings.
