John Guyette Obituary

John C. Guyette Beloved husband, father and bompa CANANDAIGUA - John C. Guyette, age 63, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 24, 2008, while surrounded by his loving family and friends at M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, after a battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Nancy Guyette; devoted daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Brent Gerstner; precious granddaughters, Alexandra and Meaghan Gerstner; extended family, Dan and Sherry Gerstner and Chad and Yvonne Gerstner and their children, Austin and Jeremy Gerstner; and dear friends, Pat Ruane and Julie Simmons and her husband Johnny Burkard, all of Canandaigua. Mr. Guyette was born and raised in Rochester. He was a professional photographer for 35 years. He retired from the portrait photography business in 1999 to open Guyette Gallery & Frame with his daughter Shelly, in Canandaigua. The frame shop was sold in 2003 so that Mr. Guyette could spend more time creating and marketing his scenic photographs of the Finger Lakes area. Mr. Guyette had also been a vendor at the Windmill Craft Market in Penn Yan since 2004. Friends may call tomorrow (Monday) from 4 to 7 p.m. at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. His memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at noon at St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to F.F. Thompson Foundation for M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, 350 Parrish St., Canandaigua, NY 14424.

Our sympathy goes out to the Guyette family in a very difficult time. John took many photographs of all us Simmons kids. If he could make us look good he must have been a great photographer. Keep up the faith within in your family in good and bad times.
