Bradley Guyette Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by A.W. Rich Funeral Home - Fairfax on Jan. 26, 2026.
Hyde Park, VT

Bradley Guyette, 72, passed away after a long illness at Central Vermont Medical Center on

January 20, 2026. He was born August 6, 1953 in Burlington Vt to William Sr. and Henrietta

(Boardman) Guyette.

He was a 1973 graduate of Harwood Union High School, where he competed in wrestling and

was manager of the baseball team. After graduation he attended a heavy equipment school in

Scranton, PA. He worked for several construction companies, retiring after 20 years with SD

Ireland Concrete where he was a pump operator. Many may remember him as the driver of

Ireland's Christmas mixer which made many stops in the local area. He was a longtime member

of Waterbury Center Fire Department, where he retired with the rank of Assistant Chief. He was

also a longtime member of Waterbury Ambulance Service, serving in the capacity of EMT, crew

chief and driver.

On May 1st 1976 he married Nancy (Brown) also of Waterbury. They would have celebrated their

50th anniversary this year. On March 31, 1978 he became a father to Sarah Kate, being a dad

was a role he enthusiastically embraced. She soon had him wrapped around her little finger,

which continued until his death. While working long hours, he always was a spectator at

whatever sport, school function she was in, always cheering loudly at field hockey, a game he

never did figure out.

On March 25, 2003 he took on the role that was to define his later years, he became "papa" to his

first grandchild, Ean Bradley, followed in quick succession by Erin, Zander, Caitlin and Zoe. To

say he loved these kids is a huge understatement, driving to "Toys R Us" in a snowstorm on

Christmas Eve so that Zander could have a ride-on car like his sister's! He was extremely proud

of all of their accomplishments. Ean followed as the 2 nd generation firefighter/EMT which

brought him much joy and worry because he knew all too well the risk involved.

He loved snowmachines, NASCAR, and all things fast, although both his wife and daughter said

he drove like an old lady! His wife nagged him into trying the game of golf, which he described

as "chasing around a little white ball", to his surprise he liked it. They spent many weekends

playing the courses Vermont had to offer. There were also golf trips to Florida and Myrtle Beach.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Nancy always said he was the kindest man

she'd ever known, that continued to the end when he waited until neither she nor Sarah were in

the room to finally let go.

Bradley leaves behind his wife, Nancy Guyette; his daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Mike

Hart; and his grandchildren, Ean Shedd, Erin Hart, Zander Hart, Caitlin Hart, and Zoe Hart. As

well as his siblings William Guyette Jr. and his wife Kim, Brenda Guyette, Debbie Austin,

Randy Guyette and his wife Robin, Steve Guyette and his wife Loreen, Candy Baker and her

husband Stuart, his sister-in-law Marcia Guyette. He is also survived by several beloved nieces,

nephews, and cousins.

Bradley is predeceased by his parents William Sr. and Henrietta (Boardman) Guyette, his Brother

Thomas Guyette and his sister Patsy Murray.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at the American Legion in

Waterbury, VT from 1pm-3pm.
