Penelope Dorothea "Penny" Roberts

Penelope "Penny" Dorothea Roberts, 84, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026 in Berlin, Vermont. She was born March 24, 1941 to Frederick and Penelope Roberts and grew up in Port Jefferson, Long Island, New York.

Penny attended Infant Jesus Catholic school and Earl L. Vandermeulen high school, graduating in 1959. A gifted artist, she received a scholarship to the State University of New York, New Paltz, as an art major. She then moved to New York City where she worked as a textile designer for Burlington Industries and a textile designer for DuPont deNemours & Company located in the Empire State Building. Penny continued to explore her broad academic interests by pursuing a course of study in psychology at Baruch College of the City University of New York.

Penny very much loved collecting and restoring antiques and was a life-long devotee to the performing arts.

Penny moved to the Montpelier/Barre, Vermont area in 1994, where she raised her daughter, Vanessa.

In addition to her parents, Penny was predeceased by her brother, Frederick "Rick" Roberts. She is survived by her daughter, Vanessa Peabody, and two sisters, Christine Grant and Gwenn Roberts.
