Loren Aither Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by A.W. Rich Funeral Home - Fairfax on Mar. 10, 2026.
Hyde Park - Loren G. Aither, 90, passed away on March 2, 2026 at the Jack Byrne Center (Dartmouth Hitchcock) in Lebanon, NH. Loren was born June 8, 1935, in Stowe, VT to the late Walter and Dora Aither. He graduated from Lamoille Central Academy in Hyde Park, class of 1953. He then joined the Army after high school, staying in from 1954-1957 when he was honorably discharged. He married his high school sweetheart Jean E. Manning on May 20th 1956. They lived for several years with their three children in North Hyde Park and Westford, VT, before settling in at Sterling View in Hyde Park for the last 33 years.

Loren worked at IBM for 25 years, and Milton Bradley for 5 years. He also worked at Bullard's Mill making golf tees, Manosh Hardwoods, and Parker and Stearns making roof trusses. Woodworking was a true hobby of Lorens; whether it was piggy banks or doll cradles, furniture or building a deck, or making frames for daughter Robin's handicrafts, he had the knowledge. This love was passed onto his son Mike with Loren always there to lend a helping hand. In the springtime you would find him sugaring with son Eric; setting up for the season and helping out at late night boils. In December he would sell Xmas trees in North Hyde Park. Many customers looked forward to seeing him there year after year. In the park, he was always shoveling out the neighbors in the winter and would lend a helping hand any way he could. He will be missed by anyone that knew him.

Loren is survived by his wife Jean Aither; sons Eric (Joan) Aither, Mike (Karen) Aither, and daughter Robin Aither; five grandchildren Luke, Miranda, Dakota, Josh and Kylie, and four great-grandchildren Emma, Jimmy, Charlie, and Juniper, all of whom he was very proud.

Per Loren's wishes, there will be no services held at this time.
