Leo Genecco Jr. CANANDAIGUA - Leo Genecco Jr., age 85, passed away, at home, on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020, from end-stage COPD, with his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Dr. Susan Ferraglio-Genecco, by his side. He is also survived by his children, Steven and Terri Genecco; their spouses, Terry (Moran) Genecco and Shaynee Rainbolt; their mother, Susan W. Genecco; sisters-in-law, Anita and Mary Genecco; brother-in-law, Tom Bir; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three siblings, Frank and Vince Genecco and Carol Bir. Leo was born in Canandaigua and was the youngest son of Leo and Mary (Palumbo) Genecco. He graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 1954, where he was a well-known athlete. He worked for the two family businesses, Leo Genecco & Sons Produce Company and Genecco's IGA/Big M Grocery store into the 1970s. He then went on to spend the rest of his working life as a successful thoroughbred horse trainer at Finger Lakes Racetrack, with winter nights spent as master snow maker at Bristol Mountain Ski Resort. In retirement, Leo was an avid boater with a deep love for the beautiful lake he spent his life on. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private graveside service will be held for family members at Calvary Cemetery in Canandaigua.
