Matthew Zanghi Obituary

Matthew David Zanghi CANANDAIGUA - Matthew David Zanghi, age 27, died on Saturday, July 6, 2019, after years of a struggle with addiction. He is survived by his loving parents, Michael Zanghi (Hazel Robertshaw) and Lori Carson Zanghi. Matt leaves his legacy through his beloved daughter, Avary Lynn Zanghi. He is also survived by his sister, Rachele Lamar; brother, Ryan (Kate) Zanghi; three nephews, Christian, Tyson and Silas; grandparents, Paula and Greg Radford, Carol Zanghi and Delores Carson; and aunts, uncles and cousins. Matt attended Canandaigua Academy and Honeoye Central School. In his younger years, he was active in Boy Scouts and enjoyed snowboarding. As he grew, he fostered a fond appreciation for music and loved attending concerts and music festivals. Matt was a hard worker at Eric's Office and his personality will be remembered in the hearts of the Office family. Regardless of the struggles and the pain of his battle with addiction, Matt should be remembered for his good heart. He was a gentle yet animated guy who only wanted happiness in those around him. Matt always looked forward to the next great thing and basked in the love of his family and friends. His greatest love was being a father to his daughter Avary and he cherished every moment that they had together. Matt will be missed by his friends, who were an extension of his family. May they always smile when thinking about the good times with Matt. Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. A celebration of life will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Partnership for Ontario County, 5297 Parkside Dr., Suite 307, Canandaigua, NY 14424. Matt and my grand-daughter were very close friends , and although I didn't know him well he was one of the nicest and funniest people ever. His death is a true tragedy and it's difficult to believe he's really gone at this young age. I know I'll think of him often with a smile and with prayer. Condolences to his family and also those who will miss daily.

Sincerely,

Mary Lee Fletcher

My sincere condolences go out to Ryan and the entire Zanghi family. Matt was a great friend in middle/high school and you could always count on him for a good laugh. I have many great memories of him and will always look back on those days with a smile. May you rest easy and I will be thinking of your family during this difficult time. Much love to everyone.
