Rocco J. Polimeni Jr.

Rocco J. Polimeni Jr. Loving father, grandfather and brother Canandaigua - Rocco J. Polimeni Jr., of Foster Road, passed away at his home on Feb. 23, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. The son of the late Rocco J. and Josephine (Vitalone) Polimeni Sr., he was a lifelong resident of Canandaigua. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. A graduate of Hobart College, Rocco was employed as a chemist and an administrator, retiring from the Cornell Experimental Station after many years of service. He is survived by his daughter, Louise (Ernie) Zelbacher; grandchildren, Emily (Jeff Braverman), Erik and James; great-grandson, Noah; brothers, John, Joe (Mary), Russell (Marge) and Albert Polimeni; uncle, Joe Vitalone; and several nieces and nephews, including John (Karen) Polimeni and Sue (Mike) Rizzo. Rocco was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Betty. There will be no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 26, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St. Canandaigua. A graveside service will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. A donation in Rocco's name may be made to the Mayo Clinic.
