Ronald Howell Obituary

Ronald J. Howell Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather CANANDAIGUA - Ronald J. Howell, age 77, of Perinton, died unexpectedly at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Patricia C. Howell; son, Brad (Ann) Howell of Rochester; daughter, Valerie Smith of Knoxville, Tenn.; three grandsons, Jeff (Jennifer) Howell and Rob (Angela) Howell, both of Rochester, and Ryan Smith of Knoxville; five great-grandchildren, Hunter, Brenden, Faith, Landon and Gianna; sister, Sandra Keller of Florida; two nieces, Kim Keller and Karen Capuciati; nephew, Michael Bingham; and extended family members, Sean (Sarah) Badger, Michelle (Jeff) Berry and Jennifer (Nirav) Dalal. He was predeceased by his first wife, Beverle (Bradburn) Howell in 1995. Mr. Howell was born in Canandaigua and was the son of William and Irene (Stoke) Howell. He attended Canandaigua schools and graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 1948. He was employed at Eastman Kodak Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1984. Mr. Howell had spent summers at his home on East Lake Road at Canandaigua Lake for the last 50 years. He enjoyed collecting and trading stamps. Mr. Howell formerly raced stockcars in the Finger Lakes area. He was an avid fisherman. Friends may call tomorrow (Thursday) from 4 to 7 p.m. at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. His funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua. Memorial contributions may be made to Perinton Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 1400 Turk Hill Road, Fairport, NY 14450; or American Cancer Society, 1400 Winton Road North, Rochester, NY 14609.

Pat,
Elinor, Allan and I send our prayers and condolences. We had hoped to make the trip to the funeral today....but Elinor cannot manage it. Ron was so kind to us. May God grant you the strength at this time to focus on all the blessings and may He ease your sorrow.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Ron will always be remembered for his many years of participation in our small group of philatelists at the Kodak Stamp Club. He was always willing to share his knowledge and give a helping hand. Ron will be missed.
