Alan Spinks

Alan Spinks died Sunday, June 12. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 15 at Ellis Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Thursday, June 16 at Fairview Cemetery. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Dyer and the Rev. Bob Hopkins officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.

He was born Jan. 23, 1935 to Bob and Gertrude Spinks in Luling and was raised and educated in Harwood. He graduated from Gonzales High School in 1953 and attended Texas Tech University, graduating in 1959. He married Helen Golladay May 28, 1960. He later became involved in farming. He was a member of First Baptist Church and served in the Army National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and two brothers.

He is survived by a son, Al Spinks of Midland; three grandchildren; his wife, Michelle Spinks; her children, Danielle and Michael Wilcox of Midland; a brother, Leroy Spinks of Odessa; a sister, Rita Hendershot of Gonzales; and numerous nieces and nephews.
