Bertin "Beto" Benitez

Bertin "Beto" Benitez was born in the town of Bejucos, Mexico. He was 76 years old when he left this world to be with the Lord Jesus. He was happily married to his wife Dominga Benitez for 49 years. Beto worked as a cook, tour guide, and professional landscaper in the Midland-Odessa area. Services are under the care and direction of Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin funeral home. A private family burial will be scheduled at a later time. He was born Bertin Perez Benitez on January 8, 1946, to his loving parents, Augustin Benitez Mondragon and Theresa Perez Aguirre. Beto left Bejucos searching for employment opportunities in the United States in his youth. In his 20's and 30's, his tenure in the restaurant business took him from San Angelo to Midland, then to Denver and Los Angeles, and finally back home to Midland. He worked for several prominent Mexican food restaurants, including Tampico Spanish inn, Casa Madrid, La Villita, and Mexican Grill. Beto eventually opened his mobile burrito stand called Beto's Burritos that ultimately became an official restaurant on 700 E. Florida Street. He then turned his attention to the tourism business. He would contract Bus lines to travel to popular destination sites in Mexico like Puerta Vallarta, Acapulco, and Mexico City. These were adventurous times for Beto. He would enjoy traveling to exotic places while acting as the local tour guide. He organized these trips during his 40's and 50's. In his mid-50's he switched gears and finally delved into lawn care service. He provided all aspects of landscaping service, including tree removal, lawn maintenance, tree pruning, and trimming. He did this type of work until his very last day. His friends and family will remember him as a loving husband, father, good friend, hard worker, caring person, and a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Dominga Benitez of Midland. Sons Robert Benitez of Coleman, Joe Benitez of Weatherford and George Benitez of San Angelo. Daughters Catherine Uvalle of Houston, Nancy Richardson of Denver, Elizabeth Parker of Austin, Teri Benitez of Midland, and Margie Benitez of Houston. Brother Jorge Benitez of Austin. Sisters Elizabeth Benitez of Austin, Virginia Benitez of Toluca MX, Osbelia Benitez of Bejucos MX, Rosalba Benitez of Chilpancingo Guerrero MX, Aida Benitez of Bejucos MX, Teresa Benitez of Bejucos MX. Father Augustine Benitez Mondragon of Bejucos MX. He leaves numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins. He is preceded in death by his Mother Teresa Perez Benitez and sister Gudelia Benitez.
