Billie Sartain Obituary

Billie Donnette Sartain
09/25/1945 - 01/12/2026
Billie Donnette was born September 25, 1945 to Eddie Mae and Billie Wirt Stieghan in San Antonio, Texas at Fort Sam Houston, and passed away January 12, 2026 at the age of 80.
Her family moved from Cotulla to San Angelo in 1957 where she met the "boy next door", Stanley Sartain, and they were married on June 15, 1963. Their son Craig was born in 1964, before they moved to Fort Worth in 1966 where their son Danny was born in 1967. They moved to Bryan, Texas in 1972, and then to Midland in 1978, which became their permanent home. She was a substitute teacher for MISD for a few years and then was employed by Castle Gap Jewelry for many years starting in 1982, where she met and worked for her best friend, Beverly Bennett Johnson and her mother, Maxine Bennett. She also worked for Occasions Fine Jewelry, Clayton Williams Energy, and Venture Mud, as well as having her own jewelry repair business.
She was a member of and instructor for the West Texas Dance Organization in the 90s and early 2000s, which hosted workshops on belly dancing, and supported Women Dancing for Women, a foundation tied to the organization. Billie Donnette and Stan were avid travelers, traveling to all fifty states and several countries with their close friends Beverly Bennett Johnson and Maxine Bennett, giving them all so many wonderful memories to share. There were also many memories made during yearly summer family trips.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Stan, sons Craig of Midland and Danny (wife, Regina) of Granbury as well as grandchildren Andrew Sartain of Norman, OK, Tori Legendre (husband, Tyler) of Midland, Chad Sartain (wife, Laiken), of Buford, GA, and James Sartain (wife, Sydney) of Covington, GA, great grandchildren, Hudson and Harper Legendre and Weston Sartain, and sister Bobbie McNatt of Midland, niece Marian Sasso of Littleton, CO (husband, Justin), and great-niece Emily Sasso.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to either Rope Youth, 922 S Main St, Midland, TX 79701 or North Side Church of Christ, 1511 N Fort Worth St., Midland, TX 79701.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com.

Behind every great man, there is a great lady. Even though I did not know her, I new her husband, Stan from the Post Office. My condolences to Stan and all the family and friends.
Sincerely, Deacon Alex Perez.
