Brooklyn Zachary Obituary

Brooklyn Paige Zachary
06/14/2010 - 06/05/2024
Brooklyn Paige Zachary, 13, of Stanton, TX decided to join her daddy and end her journey here with us on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. She was born on June 14, 2010 on a day the sun sat the highest in the sky.
Brooklyn had hopes and dreams of going to Culinary Arts School and becoming an amazing baker and owning her own bakery and sweet shop. She was the most soft spoken person with the biggest heart ever, reading books and playing with and making slime was her most favorite thing to do. She loved watching Anime, cooking network, Steve Wilkos and all the Jerry Springer episodes. God definitely sprinkled some extra sweetness on her, she was the sweetest human on this side of heaven!
She is preceded in death by her daddy Dallas Zachary, her uncle Nathan Sodek and Cousin Jackson Sodek, uncle Michael Zachary and Uncle Dale Zachary
Those left to honor and cherish her memory is her mother Rebecca Lynn, her grandparents Debbie and Butch Green, Hailey and Kyle Zachary and her aunt Brooke Sodek-Johnson.
Funeral services are private.
It is impossible to prepare for the harsh reality of losing a loved one, especially a parent or child, at far too young of an age. To lose Brooklyn in this manner is unfathomable. It is a finality difficult to accept. It has left behind a desperate longing to understand the rationale and insanity behind mental illness no one knew to be present. To realize the devastating effects of perfectionism, which is not about high standards - it's about unrealistic ones. Her death has marred us in significant, painful and permanent ways. Suicide is a complicated end and compounds with an array of feelings and stigma.
One person taking their own life every 40 seconds is an epidemic of massive proportion, leaving no family untouched. The ensuing recovery for families must find a balance between the crushing punches of abandonment, betrayal, rage, doubt, shame, shock, blame, fear, sorrow, loss, guilt, regret and confusion and the light-filled promises of presence, love and joy through our memories and the legacy left behind. It has left us utterly breathless.
This silent epidemic is catastrophic. If talking about it, exposing it, shouting it from the rooftops, will help even one person find a way to talk about their pain, a difference can and must be made. To help others understand, we must reach out to family members, friends and strangers. Show kindness, an openness to talk and, more importantly, to listen, to see, to hear without judgement. If only to save one family from the pain and anguish of losing a loved one through bringing awareness to this tragic and senseless loss of life, then our beloved Brookelyn's death will not be in vain. See the signs, save a life, we cannot afford to lose another light.

I hope this is not inappropriate. I was looking through the for somebody that I´ve lost and I ran across your daughters picture. I´m so sorry for your loss. She´s such a beautiful young woman. I don´t know what compelled me to send a condolence, but I guess because I watch my best friend lose her daughter and how horrible she grieved. I hope you find some peace. Jana

Thank you for sharing Brooklyns journey with us. Suicide is often times a very painful experience and not spoken about for various reasons.
I did not know Brooklyn, however, after reading about her beauty and light.. somehow I feel like I could have known her.
To her family, I´m so very sorry for your loss . Maybe someone will take this beautifully written piece and it will give them hope. That´s my prayer.
Once again, my condolences.
Susan Leigh.
