Bruce Neahusan Obituary

Bruce William Neahusan died on Monday, December 21, 2020 in Midland. He was born the second of three sons to Leona and Lewis Neahusan on May 21, 1953. He graduated from Midland High School in 1971, where in participated in the FFA program by raising calves for the Midland Livestock Show. He briefly spent time in Austin and Athens Texas, then lived most of his life in Midland. Beginning in the 1980s, Bruce was instrumental in bringing many concerts and festivals to the Permian Basin through his company Joint Venture Productions, including Willie Nelson, Robert Earl Keen, Billie Joe Shaver, David Allan Coe, Pat Green, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Joe Ely and many, many more. Bruce had a kindness and innate gift with animals and especially loved his cat, Mikey. Many weekends would find Bruce on the golf course, out by the grill barbequing or watching the Longhorns or Cowboys try to win a football game. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Leona and Louie Neahusan. He is survived by his brothers Larry (Fran) of Houston and David (Susanna) of Austin, niece (Kelly, and her husband Dave) and nephew (Alex), his lifelong friend Brenda Rathjen, his beloved Aunt Melba Waddle of Carlsbad, NM and several cousins as well as many, many Midland friends who supported Bruce throughout the years. Bruce will live on through our memories of his unique character and personality. Everyone who met him had at least one Bruce story and retold it with a genuine smile. There will not be a memorial service at this time due to COVID restrictions.
