Cary Yates Obituary

Cary Eugene Yates, 62, of Midland, passed away January 2, 2015 after a brief illness. Cary was born in Decatur, Illinois on February 19, 1952 to Emerson E. 'Bud' Yates and Carol (Yates) Switzer. Cary lived in Decatur, Illinois most of his life, relocating to Midland, Texas 17 years ago. He enjoyed life in West Texas, working with and living near family. Cary's interests included fishing, car racing, extensive reading, and family. He was avid in genealogical research, spending many hours compiling information about his family and ancestry, a passion shared by his mother. Cary was preceded in death by his father Emerson E. Yates; sister, Nancy Yates New; and stepfather, Jack Switzer. He is survived by his beloved mother, Carol Switzer of Midland; daughters, Karrie Yates of Decatur, Illinois, and Shay Wright and husband Brad Wright, Sr. of Niantic, Illinois; son, Tyler Yates of Shelbyville, Illinois; grandchildren, Meagan, Nicole, Kamia, Brad, Jr., and Brailey; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by three brothers, Kenny Yates, Kevin Yates, and Chris Yates, all of Midland; and two sisters, Tracy Yates of Midland and Caryn Stoner of Odessa. He also leaves behind Lessie Moreland of Midland. A private wake was attended by family. Cary will be interred in Decatur, Illinois at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in his name to the Friends of the Library in Midland, 2305 West Michigan Avenue, Midland, TX 79701, (432) 682-2999. He is greatly missed.

I am very sorry for your loss. May the God of all comfort be with you during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.
