Cathe Leggott
11/27/1929 - 08/03/2024
Catherine Evans Leggott (Cathe), a first generation American, was born on November 27, 1929, in Houston, Texas to Arthur and Nellie Evans, immigrants of Wales. Cathe's life was a picture of her love of Jesus, her loving relationships with her family and her friends, her servant's heart, and her love of University of Texas football. Cathe was proceeded in death by her parents, and loving husband, Charles Robert "Bob" Leggott. She is survived by children: son; Robert, and wife; Tonette "Toni", daughter; Ellen Orr and husband; Alan, her grandchildren; Meredith, Michael and Matthew Orr, CeJay Dunn and husband; Doh, Michael's fiancé; Lyndsey, and great grandson; Beckham Patrick.
Upon her graduation from Lamar High School in Houston, Texas, Cathe received a BA in Education/Art from The University of Texas at Austin. For 5 years, she joyfully taught art at Hogg Junior High in Houston. During this time, she met Bob, and they were married in Houston on June 15, 1956. Their 41-year marriage was a bright example of God's love through Jesus Christ for all who knew them until Bob's passing in 1997.
Cathe continued this ministry of grace, listening and compassion up to the day she entered glory.
Bob's job with Atlantic Richfield Company, ARCO, led them to Oklahoma City, OK Denver, CO and eventually to her beloved Midland, TX. in 1972. Cathe was a homemaker until 1982 when she resumed teaching elementary art at Trinity School of Midland until 1997. Outside the home, Cathe was a Cub Scout, Brownie and Girl Scout Assistant, volunteered at the Aphasia Center and drove Meals on Wheels for over 35 years.
For close to 50 years, Cathe was an active member at St Nicolas/Christ Church where she served on the Vestry, was on the alter guild and flower guild, a member of Daughters of the Holy Cross prayer ministry, an active member with a Curseo reunion group, delivered home communion, volunteered at the Culver Juvenile Justice Center. She was blessed be starting both a tea ministry for those needing visitors and the YAYAs, a Singles' Seniors Group.
In 2020, Cathe decided to move from Midland to Coppell with Ellen and Alan where she established a network of new friends, spent time with her grandchildren and great grandchild, and flourished in an active family involved in the community and her grandkids' events. The Lord worked a fantastic ministry through her to all who spent even a few minutes with her. Jesus used her grandmotherly stature, her smile, listening ear, encouraging words, and smile to minister to many people.
Cathe went home to the Lord after a short battle with breast cancer on August 3, 2024, in the Faith Presbyterian T. Boone Pickens Hospice facility. She remained cheerful, friendly and humorous during her last days. Her family was blessed watching her love on the doctors and nurses who cared for her at UT Southwestern Medical Center. The legacy she leaves behind is the result of her faith in Christ, her powerful prayer life, God's love to others through her listening, encouraging word and smile, and how she made each person feel like they were special.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Anglican; 5501 N Midkiff Rd., on August 24 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, if desired, please make memorial contributions to Christ Church Anglican in Midland, Texas (
