Chad Bushman Obituary

Chad Michael Bushman, 25, died Sunday March 25, 2007, at his home in Midland, Texas.

He was born January 5, 1982 in Midland, Texas and married Jessica Bell on October 21, 2005 in Billings, Montana.

Chad graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, 2001, where he was voted Mr. Congenial and was involved in swimming, orchestra, PALS, and cheerleading. Chad was active in scouting and received his Eagle Scout and Duty to God Awards. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint and served a two year mission in Washington DC for the Church. He was attending college at Brigham Young University Idaho, where he met his wife. At BYU-I he was involved in orchestra, was on the championship swim team, and was on the Dean's Honor Roll.

He was a devoted husband, son, brother and uncle. Chad was optimistic and positive; he enjoyed life to the fullest and was very valiant and humble. He was always smiling and loved serving others and was an avid animal lover. Chad had been fighting cancer since 2004 and never allowed it to define who he was.

Chad is survived by his wife, Jessica Bushman; his parents, Blaine and Margene Bushman of Midland; seven siblings; Michelle and Scott Kendall of Highland, UT, Travis and April Bushman of Midland, Stephanie and David Heidenreich of Allen, TX, Julie and Jason Meldrum of Lewisville, ID, Tyler and Whitney Bushman of Colorado Springs, CO, Melanie and John Andrews of Las Vegas, NV, and Brittany Bushman of Midland; 20 nieces and nephews; parents-in-law, Gene and Debbie Bell of Forsyth, MT and three brothers-in-law, Nathan, Ethan and Aaron Bell also of Forsyth.

The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home Thursday, March 29, 2007 between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday March 30, 2007 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4805 Gateway St., Midland, Texas. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. Pallbearers will be Travis Bushman, Tyler Bushman, Nathan Bell, Devin Taylor, Scott Kendall, David Heidenreich, Jason Meldrum and John Andrews. Dear Jessica, Mom and Dad Bushman,
I enjoyed Chad so much as a student in my Livestock Production class at BYU-Idaho. I was not aware of his health challenges--all I knew was he was so smiley, pleasant and enjoyed by the students around him. I am so sorry to not have the privilege of enjoying him more in this life. I do know that he continues to exist and that we can meet again. May you live in a way that would please Chad and be comforted by his good life and example. I am grateful he came here to be part of us for a while.

I met Chad on the first day of school in 7th grade. I will never forget all of the hilarious moments that we shared throughout Jr. High and High School. Chad was such a fun-loving, positive, and radiant person. He will always be remembered for his kind smile and endless laugh. I am blessed to have known Chad. His friends and family are in my thoughts and prayers. Bless you all!

Dear Bushman Family,
Elder Bushman and I served together in Washington - We were roommates for 4 months. Like all the other things I've read about Chad, I remember him for his optimism, uplifting attitude, sense of humor, and hard work as a missionary. We used to run together on "p-day", bike, run around on the University of Maryland football field in College Park, MD, knock endless doors together - he even trusted me to cut his hair... Those he taught and associated with loved him - as did all the missionaries. Chad, I'll never forget those great times! You will be missed my friend

Blaine & Margene,

My prayers are with you at this most difficult time. Through our special friend, Sandy Bailey, I heard about Chad's death. Although I did not know Chad, I know he was sent to a very special family who loved him and raised him with the light of the gospel. Thank goodness, our gospel gives us hope to see him again. May the Spirit of the Holy Ghost be with you during this time of mourning and whenever you need His peace and comfort. With love, Pat

Chad was one of the best people I knew! I met Chad at BYU-Idaho my freshman year and he could obviously tell how scared I was to be in college away from my family. We had English 111 together and he was always a delight in that class. He helped me through the semester with learning where my classes were and got me out of my homesickness mode. He is a wonderful guy. Now, a couple years later after my freshman year he is still one of the highlights of my college years! He was always happy and had something witty to say always. There are so many stories I could share about Chad and they all make you smile and laugh. He will be so deeply missed by all who knew him. My heart and prayers go out to his wife and all of Chad's family! We love you Chad!!!!

Chad was amazing! He really could do anything with or without that leg of his...like when he insisted on driving me around before he finally got his prosthesis (oops...I wasn't supposed to tell his parents) He was also the best story teller with his laugh and excitement. He loved life and showed more faith than I've ever seen. I'm grateful for the time I was able to get to know him better and for the incredible impact he has had on my life.

Like all the other notes I read, all my memories of Chad include that big smile of his. He was a sweet, charismatic, accepting, and loving individual. There aren't many people in this world that have what Chad had. I feel lucky that I got the chance to know him as much as I did. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

Chad was one of the most wonderful people that I had ever met. He was accepting, funny, understanding, and kind. I loved his family and loved how he made everyone feel so special. I want all the Bushman's to know that I keep you all in my prayers and hope the best for everyone.

Chad always has been and will continue to be a great example of unconditional faith and uncanny ability to remain positive no matter what. The aura of joy he presented around himself--without even trying--is something to be admired and emulated. Knowing of his eternal reward in the Kingdom of Heaven is great motivation to all of us to lead our lives the way he did because he lead his life the way Christ did.

Chad was always so nice and fun to be around. Whenever I had any questions about orchestra or anything he was always willing to help me out. I loved his humor! He could make the whole room burst into laughter. I loved that about him.

Chad was always such a happy person and had the best outlook on life that I have ever seen. He was also so nice and truly cared about others. Even though he had so much going on in his life, he was always able to ask me how things were in my life. Although he is now pain free, he will be missed very much. Chad was a good friend. My prayers are with Jessica and the rest of Chad's family. Love y'all!
