Charles Conat Obituary

Charles (Chuck/Clark) Donald Conat, of Midland, Texas, died unexpectedly at the age of 56 on Sunday, November 20, 2016 following surgery. Charles is survived by his farther, Donald Conat (Carol, Michigan); sisters, Connie (Gordon) Mapley (Lapeer, Michigan) and Cheryl (Jerry) Hooks (Robinson, Illinois); brother, Michael Conat, (Olney, Illinois); six sisters from the marriage of Donald and Jackie Conat, Julia (Daniel) Martinez, Rebecca (Bill) Gruber, Anna (Albert) Garza, Barbara (Matt) Baldwin, Merry (Mike) Gebauer, and Shannon (Todd) Schnell; and step-brother and wife Kevin (Pam) Long (Florida); and by several nieces and nephews, as well as several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce E. Long; step-father, John Long; step-mother, Jackie Conat; and step-brother, Clayton Long. Charles was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 21, 1959 to Donald and Joyce (Baker/Olson) Conat. He moved to Illinois in 1972 and attended Robinson High School. Charles was a painter, handyman, and jack-of-all-trades. He had worked for SDR and Lark painting for a time, operated a dry cleaner with his longtime friend Barbara Gray (Robinson, Illinois) and in recent years, had been a 20 year employee and friend of Steven and Colleen Kuzmich (Midland, Texas). He also worked for and was a friend to Patricia Patterson (Midland, Texas). Charles was a kind hearted, generous, loving person who lived life to the fullest. He was a bit of a rolling stone who would help anyone with a need. He loved animals, especially his dogs Auggie and most recently Sophie. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. A celebration of life is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on December 3, 2016 at the Senco Construction Training Center, 1408 S Eaton St. Robinson, IL 62454. All friends and family are welcome to attend and celebrate Charles' life.
