David Wayne Harris

David Wayne Harris, known to many as Dewayne entered eternal life on August 31, 2025, surrounded by his family in Midland, Texas. He was born on August 14, 1950, to George Gerald and Lester Lee Rhodes. Dewayne lived a full and meaningful life defined by service, loyalty, and the joy he brought to those around him.
Dewayne graduated from Midland High School, Class of 1968. From there, he joined the United States Army, where he fought in the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany and San Diego. After his military service, Dewayne worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years until his retirement.
Known for his directness, Dewayne's honesty and sincerity touched the lives of many who valued his genuine spirit. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, including watching WWE Wrestling, playing bingo, dominoes and listening to his favorite artist, Tina Turner. His warmth, humor, and unwavering spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Gerald and Lester Lee Rhodes; his sister Marie Webster; his brothers Eddie Harmon "City Boy," and James Harmon.
He is survived by his sisters Willie Mae Jackson and Paula Davis; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends who will miss him deeply.
