Our beloved Muthie, Mary Jane Thacker Scheele, affectionately known as "Jane" by those who loved her, went to be with our Lord on Saturday February 14, 2026.

"People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel" -a quote by Maya Angelou that was our Muthie's favorite. And that makes sense because it encompasses her perfectly. Anyone that knew her loved her, and has a story about how she made them feel.

Mary Jane Thacker Scheele was born on August 13th, 1947 to Doris and Melvin Thacker. She grew up in a house filled with love and faith. She was a beautiful lady, inside and out. She was in beauty pageants and social clubs. She was kind, and fun, and loved to be a little bit sassy, but never unkind.

As an adult she attended Texas Tech University, and she loved living in the dorm with her friends. She was a very classy and educated woman who was loved by new and old friends alike.

When she was 34, she had her first child and at 38 her youngest baby was born. She was a bit later to motherhood than many of her peers, but she would tell anyone who would listen that being a mother was her greatest joy and purpose in life. She was an amazing mother. Her kind heart and gentle way were beautiful and she made sure to raise her girls to be strong, kind, and gentle as well.

She is survived by her daughters, Erin and Jamie who she loved fiercely and unconditionally. And by her precious grandchildren Madison Jane Porter, Corbin Porter, Colton Porter, Eric Anderson, Jolee Anderson, and Elliot Anderson who were the light of her life.

In most appropriate fashion; on the day of love, Valentines Day 2026 Our Muthie Jane Thacker Scheele ascended this physical plane and went to be with Jesus and her beloved Daddy and Mother.

While she has not been canonized YET, (we feel that she is a great candidate) we have found that Saint Valentine believed that real love isn't just a feeling. It's a choice. It's faithful. It's brave. We found that very aligned with how our Mother lived her life. What divine synchronicity that she would depart on his feast day.
