Gregory Maddux Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sanders Funeral Home - Lubbock on Mar. 17, 2026.
Gregory Clay Maddux, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 69 on March 13, 2026, due to natural causes. Born on August 29, 1956, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Greg spent a lifetime dedicated to his family and his passion for chemistry. He graduated from Permian High School in 1979 before earning his Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Texas Tech University, setting the stage for a successful career as a chemist in sales and advisory.

Greg found great fulfillment in his work at Jacam Catalyst Oil Field Chemicals, where he was respected for his expertise and commitment. His contributions to the industry were matched only by his dedication to his family, residing in the Permian Basin and later in Lubbock, Texas.

Greg married Therese Cook Knowles on October 1, 2010.

Outside of work, Greg was a man of varied interests. He cherished the moments spent watching Texas Tech sports, nurturing his beautiful garden, and tending to his beloved Koi pond. An avid fisherman, he often found peace and joy by the water, creating memories that will be treasured by his family forever.

Greg is survived by his devoted wife, Therese Knowles-Maddux; children, Clay Maddux and Caitlyn Maddux Mayda; and five cherished grandchildren, Ryan Maddux, Jordan Maddux, Violet Knowles, Michaela Knowles, and (expecting soon) Olivia Maddux Mayda. Each of them holds a special place in their hearts for their husband, father, and grandfather.

A funeral service to honor Greg's life will be held at Sanders Memorial Chapel on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation at Sanders Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 6:00-7:30 PM, where they can share memories and celebrate the life of this remarkable man. Greg will be laid to rest at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park, where his legacy will continue to thrive in the hearts of all who knew him.

As we reflect on Greg's life, we remember a man who embraced each moment with joy and appreciation. His warmth and kindness will forever inspire those he leaves behind.

Gregory was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas Maddux and Maridella Maddux.
