On February 27, 2026 Ima Pearl (Clay) Miers Spirit was freed from the once beautiful, vibrant, earthly body that in later in life became a worn and weathered earthly prison . Pearl aka Momma - (Grannie to most) Was a Rose in a patch of dandelions. Pearl was born December 9,1942 in Tahoka Texas as an early Christmas gift to Her parents Luke And Nellie Clay . She joined her siblings sister Patsy Clay Shewmake, brother Jimmy Clay, sister Lois (Clay) Kemp, and was followed by baby sister Shorty Clay. They all preceded her in death. Pearl inherited her and skills of cooking from her father Luke who owned and operated over a dozen Cafes around Texas dragging his family from town to town he would build up a clientele, sell it and open another elsewhere. Pearl attended over 10 schools, winning cheerleader multiple times but had to move before she could ever cheer a game. Her mother instilled family values and taught her to be a lady. Homemaker, teaching her to sew, craft and garden ...both parents shared a love of music with her. Many nights she crawled into her Daddy's lap and he would play guitar and sing old country songs to his Lil Pearl. Or they would sit by the radio and sing along. In the third grade at one of her pit stop schools a lil red headed freckle faced boy handed her a hand crafted her a Valentine and professed his love for her...she ...unimpressed declined his proposal. Little did she know many many years later after both had failed in love they would be unwittingly reunited ,marry and raise an amazing family ...not realizing one was the other from third grade untill after being married to one another over 20 years. Their family includes Daughter Synthia Mechelle Lofton, Her husband Joe Lofton, their children Brandon Lofton , Jason Lofton , Natalie Lofton and grandchildren Wyatt Lofton, Phoenix Lofton and Denver Lofton. Their son Rafe Wade Miers his Children Daniel Ray Miers,Shye Wade Miers and Kaleb Luke Miers. Grandchildren Adaline Jo Miers ,Banks Wade Miers and Samson D. Miers And Kyra Miers. There isn't enough paper to list the others that Pearl raised and was a Momma and a Grannie to and to count the feet that were under her supper table because they had no one else to love on them or place to go would take a lifetime. Her house was a home to many strays over her lifetime and was always filled with love and laughter, the aroma of home cooked meals. The sound of hot grease and bubbling cookpots . The curtains were seldom drawn and the windows were open to overlook her amazing gardens and flowerbeds filled with beautiful multicolor rose bushes, Gerber Daisy's snapdragons and every other flower she touched with her magic green thumb. Her childhood love of music did nothing but grow . Her house was filled with a jukebox mix of everything from Her favorite Willie Nelson to the Bee Gees or Donna Summer, Freddie Fender, Motown to A staple Of Merle Haggard and Dwight Yokum and Paty Cline. Her favorite song was Into the mystic by Van Morison and could often be heard on repeat at full volume for the neighbors to enjoy also . Pearl Loved to fish and was a Crack shot quail /dovehunter with her 410 shotgun. Her Daddy always told a story of her shooting 3 dove flying overhead with a bolt action . Her dogs were her family also. From Piere the Poodle to Her poodles Britney and Brandy to her weiner dogs Rosie, Maggie, Macie ,and Shorty . Pepe and Bob the bulldog and lastly in life she leaves Maybel and Larry that miss her terribly as do all her family and friends. Every aspect of her loves of cooking ,music, animals, outdoors, gardening flowers and crafts and decorating were passed down with the Love of Jesus to every single child ,grandchild, friend or passerby that she deemed one of hers. She will be greatly missed by many but her legacy lives on in the love and values and all of her favorite things. Such a beautiful woman who made a beautiful Family. You will be missed at a level that is unexplainable. Fly on ...fly on past the the speed of sound I'd rather see you up than see you down . So leave me if you need to ...I will still remember my Angel flying too close to the ground For loves the greatest healer to be found.
