Dean Boundy Obituary

Dean C. Boundy
02/13/1937 - 03/14/2024
Dean C Boundy, 87 of Midland, Texas (and Pinedale, WY), passed away peacefully at his home in Midland, Texas on March 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 13, 1937, in Denver, CO, to Nettie Aurora Constance Petterson Boundy and William Cather Boundy, relative of the late author Willa Cather.
Dean spent his early childhood in Denver and his middle to high school years in Rock Springs and Kemmerer, WY. It was here that he grew a love for the great outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, and backpacking in the Wind River Mountains, located outside of Pinedale, WY. While working at his parent's gas station, Dean engaged many Geologists passing through and decided on a career in Geology. He graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1958 and while attending was part of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Also, he gained a passion for cooking and baking, as he helped his mom at times in their family-owned café. It was during college that he met Jacklin McWilliams, whom he dated for a few years, parted ways, and then reunited and married 40 years later.
Dean enjoyed a lucrative career in the Oil and Gas Business. He worked for Belco Petroleum, Uriaha Exploration, Edmonson and Associates, Tight Rock Resources as well as provided consulting for The Grover's and Hannathon Petroleum. In his memoirs, he said "there was nothing like bringing in a good well!'. He was well known and liked in the business community and enjoyed golfing and bowling with friends and colleagues. Last year, he authored the book "Rocky Mountain Encounter" which will be published this year and was working on the sequel at the time of his departure.
Some of his most glorious experiences were doing what he loved, FISHING. He spent 40 years of his vacation time in the Wind River mountains and Kodak Island, AK with friends and family.
Dean is preceded in death by his father, mother, sister JoAnne Clark, great niece Caroline Roberts and first ex-wife Sonjia Allen Boundy St. James.
He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years Jacklin McWilliams Hunt; his children and their spouses: Eleanor Boundy Arnett and Brent Arnett; Elsie (Elise) Boundy Hildebrand and Grant Hildebrand; Tracy Marie Hunt; Tod Joseph Hunt and Nan McKeough; his grandchildren and their spouses: Brooke Hildebrand; Heath Hildebrand: Paige Hildebrand; Natalie Hunt; Jake Hunt and wife Emily; Kori Hunt Oedekoven and husband Jared; his great grandchildren: Curtis, Ethan, Abigal and Josie; Dean's sister Kathy Boundy Landon and husband Jack Landon, their children and grandchildren; brother-in-law Julian Clark and family, sister-in-law Joleen Wright and husband Earl Wright, children and grandchildren and brother-in-law Vern McWilliams and family.
