Edward Connally Obituary

Edward Connally, Jr.
10/05/1945 - 05/10/2024
Edward Connally, Jr. passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2024 in Midland, Texas at the age of 78. He was born on October 5, 1945 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to Edward Connally, Sr. and Dorothy Cline Connally. He married Anna Marie Wilbanks on September 7, 1967.
After graduating from Odessa High in 1964, he attended Odessa College on a baseball scholarship, and then went on to Pasadena College in California to further his baseball career. He was drafted into the Army and served in Vietnam from July 1969 to July 1970. After his discharge from the Army, he completed his bachelor's degree in accounting at the University of Texas at Austin.
Ed worked as a Certified Public Accountant for several local companies. In 1985 he began working for the FDIC in Midland. His career with the FDIC took the family to San Antonio, Texas, Irvine, California, and Plano, Texas. Ed and Anna Marie retired to Granbury, Texas in 2009 where he enjoyed lots of golf with friends, and visits from grandkids with the annual highlight being Nana-Papa Camp. Just like tumbleweed, it became time to roll back to West Texas. Ed and Anna Marie returned to Midland in 2012.
Ed was a talented athlete. He enjoyed coaching, playing, and watching all sports. However, all things Longhorn was his favorite.
Ed was a Godly man who was devoted to the Lord and to his family. He was a committed member of Golf Course Road Church of Christ where he always found ways to serve behind the scenes.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of nearly 57 years, Anna Marie Connally, his two children, Jeff (Charlotte) Connally of Fort Worth, TX and Amanda (Trey) Grigsby of Midland, TX, his grandchildren: Lily Connally of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Elliott (Amanda) Connally of Fort Worth, TX, Elise Grigsby of Midland, TX, John Mark Connally of Fort Worth, TX, Ty Grigsby of Midland, TX, and Sarah Connally of Fort Worth, TX, his brothers: Joe (Janice) Connally of Midland, TX, Dale Connally of Midland, TX and Don (Kim) Connally of Aledo, TX, and cherished nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Permian Basin Honor Flight or a charity of your choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com.
