Effie White Obituary

Effie Dell White, 97 of Midland, passed away on February 15, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel at 2:00 pm with Pastor Mike Reed, officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Effie was born on June 2, 1911 in Ben Wheeler, Texas to Henry and Ella Phillips. She grew up in Ben Wheeler and attended schools there. She met and married Frank Curtis, Sr. shortly before he went to war, he died in action in WWII. Later she met and married John White, he preceded her in death in 1992. Effie was employed by MISD for over 20 years as the manager of food service at the schools. She was a member of the community since 1937.

Survivors include her son, Frank Curtis and daughter in law, Sarah Curtis of Midland, a brother, J.J. Phillips of Bridgeport, TX; four grandchildren Ray Curtis, Lynne Curtis, Richard Reynolds, and Susan Freeman; and numerous great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Dearest Frank and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Your mother was one of the dearest people in my life. My love and prayers are with you and all your family at this sad time. She will be one of GOD's best angels. I loved her very much. GOD bless you all.
