Elfa Cataño Olgin

Elfa Cataño Olgin, better known as "Mima" to her loving family, left this earth to her eternal home with our Lord on January 6, 2022. Elfa was born on April 24, 1938, to Magdaleno and Manuela Cataño in Vado de Piedra, Chihuahua, Mexico where she was raised and completed her education. She married the love of her life, Guadalupe "Wally" S. Olgin, on August 31, 1959, and they celebrated 53 anniversaries together before his passing. Elfa knew the true meaning of "It takes a village to raise a family" by caring for everyone and having a hand in raising her grandchildren and her friend's children. She would always offer her home to anyone that needed somewhere to stay. Elfa was a Cursillita, lector, educator, and parishioner at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Midland. She loved to dance, tell stories, and make everyone laugh, pray the rosary, and ride her stationary bike. Elfa was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers and would never miss a game. Elfa is preceded in death by her parents Magdaleno and Manuela Cataño; husband Guadalupe "Wally" S. Olgin; sons Wally Olgin and Joe Angel Olgin; grandson Michael Aguilar; brother Erineo Cataño; and sisters Emma Cataño and Eva Cataño. She is survived by her children Johnny Olgin (Lorene) of Kerrville, TX, Danny Olgin (Veronica) of Kerrville, TX, David Olgin (Corina), Mary Aguilar (Trey), and Sarah Cardiel all of Midland, TX; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings Refujio Cataño (Consuelo) of Dimmitt, TX, Ruben Cataño (Connie) of Odessa, TX, Consuelo Martinez (Alfred) of Plains, TX, Manuel Cataño (Vangie) of Midland, TX, Israel Cataño (Arci) of Amarillo, TX, Graciel Cataño (Rosa) of Plainview, TX, and Norma Cataño (Tracey) of Austin, TX, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1401 Garden Lane, Midland, TX, with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4616 North Big Spring Street, Midland, TX. Pallbearers will be John Olgin, Dylan Olgin, Zach Olgin, David Olgin Jr., Joseph Aguilar, Jordan Olgin, and Joshua Sorola. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Olgin, Danny Olgin, David Olgin, Trey Aguilar, Jayden Rubio, and Alyssa Aguilar. Well done good and faithful servant. - Matthew 25:21.
