Routh Johnson Francess Routh Johnson, 96, of Austin, Texas, departed peacefully on April 20, 2015. She was a beautiful, lovely lady who will be missed by her many friends and family. Francess was born on April 1, 1919 in Ballinger, Texas to Oscar Ralph Routh and Betty Forrest Miller Routh. She is survived by one brother, Albert Melvin Routh of Austin; a sister, Mary Routh Washburn of Austin; and many nieces and nephews. Frances grew up in Ballinger, Texas along with three brothers, Ralph Oscar Routh, Forrest Miller Routh, and Albert Melvin Routh, and two sisters, Mary Lou Routh and Virginia Routh. Upon graduating from high school, she moved to San Angelo where she enrolled in bookkeeping courses. During World War II, she moved to San Antonio and worked for the US Government as part of the war effort. While in San Antonio, she enrolled in courses to become a draftswoman. In her desire to assist her aunts in the care of her invalid mother, she moved back to Ballinger for several years. She then embarked on a career as a geological draftswoman for various oil companies residing in Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Shreveport, Denver, and Houston. She married the love of her life James E Johnson, fondly called Bud, in 1961 and they had 43 wonderful years together, prior to his passing in 2004. Fran and Bud spent their later years together in Sun City, Georgetown, Texas where they made many wonderful friends. These were some of their happiest times together and Fran was able to pursue many of her favorite hobbies. She was a master of designing and producing gorgeous handmade cards and she shared her talent by teaching classes each week. Her baking skills were legendary as she would arrive at gatherings with delicious homemade pies, cakes and cookies to share. Fran was known for her style and grace, and she received the "Fashionista Award" by her neighbors in her community. She was an active member of the Baptist Church, and possessed a deep faith in God. Her love for her Lord and joy for life radiated to all those around her. Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens of San Angelo, Texas under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home.
