Gary Posey Obituary

March 9, 1954 - October 9, 2004

Gary Posey was known to all as a man of faith who was always available to serve others. He was a dedicated husband and father to his surviving wife of 24 years, Kathi, and his children, Hilary and Heath. Gary was also a father figure to everyone in his sphere of influence, and was a living example of Christ's readiness to serve others. The circumstances surrounding the tragic head-on collision that took his life made it clear that his time of serving others on this earth was done, and he is now serving his Lord face to face.

Gary was an active member of Midland Bible Church and was consistently serving the families of Midland Classical Academy, where his wife is the Administrative Services Director.

In addition to his immediate family, Gary is survived by his parents, Richard and Geraldine Posey of Big Spring; his brother, Brad Posey of Houston; and nieces and nephews, Brandon Posey, Lindsay and Carrie Spannaus, and Lee, Luke, Mary Kathryn, David, Becky, and Wally Dunn.

Gary managed the Midland Energy Inspection office for the Texas General Land Office, where he had been employed for over 20 years.

The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Wednesday, October 13, 2004 between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

Memorial services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, October 14, 2004 at Midland Classical Academy. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Gary Posey Memorial Fund, c/o Midland Classical Academy, 5711 Whitman, Midland, Texas 79705.

We would like to express our deepest sympathy to all of Gary's family for their tragic loss. It has been a couple of years since we have been with Gary down at "deer hunting camp" but the memories are still very much alive. He always had a smile on his face, was very soft spoken, had a very infectious laugh and our dogs loved him. When they brought him a stick, they knew he would throw it for them. He was such a joy to be around and his absence at "deer camp" and around the campfire will definitely be missed but he'll be with us in our memories.

Our hearts and prayers, as well as those of so many others from the Austin area, go out to Gary's family during their time of grief.

We all knew and loved Gary so much because of the wonderful man, friend, and co-worker that he was to everyone who knew and worked with him.

He was truly a special light in our lives and he will be missed by so many.

He will always remain in our hearts and although his memory may bring a tear to our eyes his life will bring a smile to our face.

May we all go in peace until we meet again.

It has been many years since I have seen Gary, but as a young man in Lomax, he was always a good friend.
