George Samuel "Sam" Butler, 37 of Midland passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024. Sam was born on October 27, 1986, to Scarlette Hydes and Corbet Butler. Growing up in Midland, Texas, Sam went to Midland High School where he played baseball and football for the Bulldogs. Sam also enjoyed fishing and hunting. At the time of Sam's death, he was working in the oilfield for G&W Consulting.
In 2010, Sam met Kayla Ridgeway and started dating. After dating for 3 years, both decided to marry on June 27, 2013. Together they were raising four kids and enjoyed spending time as a family. They would go on hunting and fishing trips. Sam enjoyed supporting his kids in their sports. The boys played football and his daughter played softball.
Sam is survived by Kayla Butler, three sons, Cayden Van Meter, Jaylon Van Meter, Haygen Butler, and one daughter Kenslea Butler; his mother Scarlette Butler Hydes, four sisters, Christina Rogers of Midland, Rebecca Tippett of Midland, Sarah Butler-Perez of Chandler, TX and Veronica Butler of Wasilla, Alaska; two brothers, Brandon Butler of Whitney, TX, and Bryan Butler; plus, many nieces and nephews.
Sam is preceded in death by his father, Corbet Butler, sister Brandy Butler, three brothers, Aaron Griffen, Jeremiah Butler and Joshua Butler.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all his friends, co-workers and family.
Pallbearers will be Ethan Briscoe, Allen Wilson, Sage Kinney, Scott Nigma, Adam Stipanovich, Mariano Maldonado and honorary pallbearer will be Timothy Ridgeway.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com.
