George Everett Patton
10/11/1942 - 10/02/2025
With profound sadness, we mourn the passing of George Everett Patton, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, to all the lives he touched, on Thursday, October 2, 2025. He left us peacefully with the love of his life and family by his side. He was 82 years old, born in Enid, Oklahoma on October 11, 1942. He graduated from San Marcos High School in 1960. He went on to study government at Southwest Texas State University and then on to University of Texas Law School, graduating in 1973. He married Anita Louise Martin on December 27, 1969.
George served his community and country in various roles and capacities. He was in the San Marcos High School Band and Southwest Texas Band playing trumpet and French horn and was in the ROTC program while in college. He was a Pi Sigma Chi Fraternity member, as well as a proctor at the San Marcos Academy.
He served his country in the United States Air Force for 13 years, from 1969-1977, with the rank from 2nd Lieutenant to Major. He was awarded a medal for flying 100 missions in Vietnam, with 2200 flight hours. He was a KC135 pilot stationed in Rapid City, South Dakota, Guam, and Southeast Asia. He was also stationed at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas flying C130s and was in the Reserves from 1969-1977 at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He was an active member at First Baptist Church in Midland, Texas, a former Texas Jaycees, Lions Club member, Rotary member, and a core member of the "Old Men's Golf Group" at Hogan Golf Club. His family was also given the honor of being the Family of the Year in Midland in 1986. George was a member of the Texas Bar Association for 50 years and served his community as a practicing attorney in both Austin and Midland.
George had many loves and interests including golfing, reading, computers, TV and movies, playing cards and traveling. He was a lifelong avid UT Longhorn sports fan and enjoyed the friendly rivalry he had with his kids and grandkids who were all die hard Aggies! However, his most valuable contribution and passion was instilling Christian values in his children and grandchildren that have served them well. Service, kindness, sharing the heart of Jesus, and loving his family were the pillars that defined his life. He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Winston Churchill and Wilma Inez Lewis Patton, sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Ken Strikland.
He is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Anita Patton, his two sons and their wives: Brandon and Kristi Patton, and Brett and Karie Patton. He has two surviving brothers, William (Bill) Patton and Winston (Winn) Patton. He was also proud of his four grandchildren and their spouses: Emma Patton, Carter and Kate Patton, Neely Patton and her fiancé Mitchell Kalinowski, and Charles Patton.
Services are still pending.
