Glenda Fae Breeze Green
11/11/1935 - 08/28/2025
Glenda Fae Breeze, born on November 11, 1935 in Denver, Colorado, returned to her Maker and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 28, 2025. She grew up in Denver, Colorado attending Emmaus Lutheran parochial school until 1950 when she moved with her family to Midland, Texas. She was a 1954 graduate of Midland High School, excelling in the music and drama fields of endeavor. She was known throughout high school and ever afterwards as "Sally" and attended the University of Oklahoma for one year before marrying E. Ralph Green of Albany, Texas. Immediately following their marriage, they spent a year in Austin where her husband finished his B.S. degree in Geology from the University of Texas, and their son Ralph Alan was born. While living in Austin, she was a secretary to the faculty at the UT Law School and earned her P.H.T. (Putting Hubby Through) degree!
After her husband's graduation, the family moved to Midland where her husband worked for a short time at Halliburton, and she returned as a secretary to Lone Star Abstract & Title Company, a former employer. After a short stint back in Midland, they moved to Long Beach, California, residing there for thirteen years where her husband was employed in the oil business and their son David Scott was born. In addition to being a stay-at-home Mom, she also managed a part time in-house job transcribing accident reports for Alton insurance company. While living in Long Beach, Sally became involved with the Charismatic Movement and had an amazing transformational experience of the Holy Spirit. It literally changed her life. It was during this time that the seeds of her work on a Prayer Guide were planted which was published at a later date.
Not long after her husband received his M.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Southern California, the family returned to Texas in 1972 to employment with Amerada Hess in Seminole and Cabot Corporation in Pampa, Texas. While living in Pampa and attending the First Presbyterian Church of Pampa, she sat on the Elder Board of the Session working in the area of Christian Education and also acted in the capacity of choir director.
After finally settling back in Midland in 1979, she was employed as secretary to the Regional Exploration Manager of Hilliard Oil & Gas, Inc. Her husband was engaged as a Petroleum Engineer for the First National Bank before becoming an Independent Consulting Petroleum Engineer in 1981, and she joined him in his consulting engineering firm in 1983 where they were engaged until their retirement in 2019. During these years they traveled to Canada, England, Scotland, Hawaii, New Zealand and capped off their adventures in 2000 with a pilgrimage to Israel as part of her work on a Certificate in Spiritual Formation at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA. That trip to the Holy Land was the highlight of their lives! Her husband continued to travel after that on short term mission trips to Costa Rica, Belize, Colombia and Uganda. She elected to stay home and pray!
She spent several terms as an Elder in the area of Prayer and Spirituality at the First Presbyterian Church in Midland, with her primary focus on prayer renewal, both personal and corporate within the church, hoping to ignite an interest in living in the presence and power of God through prayer. She played a large part in founding the Prayer Closet Ministry, the Parish Life Unit system, the Prayer & Spirituality Ministry of the Session and a prayer ministry for children called Faces of Children. She conducted numerous weekend Prayer Renewal Retreats in Texas, Tennessee and Louisiana, with various other speaking engagements and workshops over the years including the Protestant Women of the Chapel at Ft. Bliss Army Base in El Paso, Texas. She served on staff of the Arkansas Presbyterian Women's Conference and several times on the MO Ranch Women's Conferences. She also served for many years as a member and Chaplain of the Sanctuary Choir providing them with CLEF NOTES of encouragement. These were later published for the choir members.
In her later years, she continued writing and became a published author with a series of several children's books: LO & BEHOLD, a Christmas Story (which was also presented as a musical); GEORGIE! A Big Fish Tale; Put a Tiger in Your Tank and God's Story Made Simple for Kids. With illustrations provided by her grandniece, Melissa Green and her grandson Chris Green, each of these children's stories tried to capture children's imaginations with deeper theological meanings. Later, a series of sermons, Seasonal Sermons by Sister Sal preached by her during an eight-year stint as a lay preacher in the Presbyterian denomination was printed and widely distributed. Her study guide on prayer, which had begun during her years of living in Long Beach, titled In Quest of Prayer was published by Trilogy Publishing, a subsidiary of Trinity Broadcasting Network. Following that, In Search of Wholeness, a Memoir of her own life journey came to print. At the time of her death, she continued being a soul mate to many, mentoring them in their faith, and was actively engaged in gathering material she had written over the years with the hope of passing on the heritage of her adventures with Christ throughout her life.
She remained devoted to her family after the death of her husband, E. Ralph Green, after nearly 65 years of marriage. She was preceded in death by him and her parents Glenn Parker and Imo Love Breeze, and her brother Larry Dean Breeze. Survivors include her son Ralph and wife Lynn; grandson Christopher and wife Christin all of Ft. Worth Texas grandson Andrew and wife Susan and great grandson Tucker and great granddaughter Ella of Midland, Texas; son David and wife Beth of Arlington, Texas; granddaughter Ashlee and husband Mike Hosch and great grandson Connor of Forney Texas; granddaughter Shea and husband Brandon Beseda and great granddaughter Addy of Katy, Texas; grandson Christian and wife Caroline and great granddaughter Juliette and great grandson Hudson of Dallas, Texas; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
