Gregorio Collazo Obituary

Gregorio U. (Romeo) Collazo went home to be with his heavenly father on Friday December 28, 2007 in El Paso, Texas.

He was born on March 12, 1922 in Midland.

He was raised by his parents Genaro and Marta Hernandez.

He served in the Army in WWII in the Corporal Battery A, 145th field Artillery.

Romeo worked for the City of Midland for a number of years in the Parks and recreation Dept.

He married Elva Rubio on February 7, 2002.

In his earlier years he played semi professional baseball with Los Potrillos.

He loved to be with his family and friends.

Romeo is preceded in death by his parents Martha and Genaro Hernandez and father Tiofilo Collazo, Son: Raymond Collazo and a brother: Rosendo Collazo.

He is survived by his wife Elva Collazo of El Paso, Texas.

Sons: Rudy Collazo, Gregorio Collazo Jr, and Jerry Collazo all of Midland and Stepsons: Jesus Alfredo Rubio of Amarillo, Texas and Alfonso and Israel Rubio both of El Paso Texas.

Daughters: Diana Collazo Heredia and Olga Mancha both of Midland. Two step daughters: Guadalupe Balderas and Maria E. DeLeon both of El Paso Texas.

Brothers: Genaro ( Nalo ) Hernandez Jr. Fermine Hernandez, Andres Hernandez, and Ruben Hernandez all of Midland.

Sisters: Louisa Munoz, Modesta Munoz, Delia Segura and Victoria Lara all of Midland.

Uncle: Jose Chavez of Midland. Twenty grandchildren, Thirty six great grandchildren, ten great great grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Rosary will be held Monday at 7:00 PM at Heavenly Gate Funeral Home and Chapel. Funeral Mass will take place Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Deacon: Jesse Guajardo Officiating

Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
