Eddie Collazo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DuPage Cremations, Ltd. and Memorial Chapel on Feb. 3, 2026.
Eddie Collazo, known affectionately as Ed or Eddie to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, at the age of 55 in Batavia. Born on October 20, 1970, in Melrose Park, Ed's vibrant spirit and infectious laughter brought joy to all who knew him. He was raised in Carol Stream, where he built many lifelong friendships.

A devoted family man, Ed's loving nature was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his cherished wife, Shelly, and their beloved children, Tylor, Kaitlyn, Kyle, and Christopher, who were the pride and joy of his life. Ed's unwavering support and boundless love for his family were evident in every aspect of his life. Ed was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Maria and Ruben Collazo. He also leaves behind his caring siblings, Ruben, Martha, Sally, and Michele, along with many adoring nieces and nephews who will miss his playful teasing and warm embraces.

A proud alumnus of The Central Missouri State University, Ed earned his Bachelor's in Business, which paved the way for a successful career as the owner of an Independent Insurance Agency.

Ed's passion extended beyond his work and family to his love for sports. A true fan at heart, he could often be found cheering on his favorite teams, the Bears and Cubs. As his kids began to further their education, he quickly became a fan of the University of Illinois, Iowa State, and the University of Arizona teams. He loved nothing more than attending Chicago sporting events, even being a Chicago Cubs season ticketholder for the 2024 season. Beyond just being a fan of the game, Ed was a passionate coach for his kids youth football teams.

Ed cherished the time he spent playing games with family and friends. Whether gathered around the table for lively rounds of Left-Right-Center, working through puzzles and crosswords, or enjoing various card games, he treasured the laughter and connection those moments brought. He also loved watching and playing along with game shows like Jeopardy, The Price is Right, and Wheel of Fortune, proudly testing his knowledge and sharing a laugh alongside family and friends.

A Corvette enthusiast through and through. His love for these classic cars was more than a hobby; it was a reflection his appreciation for the finer details.

Ed will be remembered as a man of many virtues-loving, funny, and generous. His sense of humor could light up a room, and his generosity knew no bounds. He was always willing to lend a hand or share a joke, making sure everyone around him felt included and valued.

His legacy is one of love, laughter, and selflessness, and those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with Ed will forever cherish the memories they created together. As we bid farewell to Eddie Collazo, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man who made the world a brighter place. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

A Memorial Visitation will be held to Honor Eddie at The DuPage Funeral Chapel ( 951 W. Washington St. West Chicago, Illinois, 60185 ) on Friday, February 6, 2026 from 12:00 - 2:00 PM.

I remember Eddie from our childhood years. He would often be around when his sister, Michele and I would hang out. The brightest smile is what I really remember about him. And from looking at his picture it remained with him always. I am terribly sorry for the Collazo family suffering yet another loss of a family member, especially one as young as Eddie. I send my heartfelt love & condolences. May he live on in all your hearts forever.
