Leo Mittman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DuPage Cremations, Ltd. and Memorial Chapel on Feb. 20, 2026.
Leo W. Mittman, 83, of Wheaton, IL passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Born on April 8, 1942, in St Charles, IL. Leo was owner and operator of AAA Mittman & Son Plumbing. Leo started his business independently a few short years later his son Craig Mittman joined the business. The AAA (Always Available with Ability) was his business name and his work ethic. Not only did he resolve customer's plumbing needs, but he also always found time to talk and listen to them, forming close bonds of friendship with so many of his customers over the 57 years AAA Mittman & Sons was in operation.

Leo was deeply devoted to his family and loved being part of whatever mattered most to them. He was a genuine friend to have. Leo could fix or make just about anything from homes to cars to campers to his onion loaf and a variety of pies. His infectious smile and positive outlook captured everyone in his wake and might well be the image stuck in everyone's mind for eternity. In quiet ways, he helped others see their own value, often without them even realizing it. He had a very special way of sharing his love of life, his abundant optimism and passion for learning how literally anything worked with everyone he knew.

Leo Mittman is survived by his partner Joyce Stone, sister Nancy Biese, son Craig Mittman (Erin), daughter Holly Lippmann (Gordon), Kari Hess (Brian) and Christina Quarnstrom; his grandchildren Tiffany Boutieller, Allis Lippmann, Claira Mittman, Otto Hess, Casey (Naomi) and Karly Quarnstrom; his great grandchildren Felicia, Damien, Anthony, Giordani, Lux and Penelope; nieces and nephews Jeanine, Chuck, Mike, Ed, Jean, Kristy, Teri, Alicia, Amber and Jacob; brother-in-law Bill Atkinson, cousin Peggy Hernandey.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents Wilfred and Matilda Mittman; his sister Joan Patterman (Roy); his first wife Patricia (Atkinson), his second wife Carol (Summers); his daughter Stacey Mittman (Zoraida) and Ken Quarnstrom; niece and nephew Leanne Johnson and Kevin Atkinson; brothers and sister-in-law Frank Biese, Larry Atkinson (Avis) and Ann Johnson (Lee).

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 6, 2026, from 4-7pm at the Elks Lodge: 0N772 Papworth St., Wheaton, IL.

Joyce, my condolences and many prayers for you. I never had the pleasure of meeting Leo as your partner but your wonderful words of his life were a pleasure to hear and visual the achievements that Leo gave to you, his family and the community that his was apart of.
