John Stoever Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DuPage Cremations, Ltd. and Memorial Chapel on Feb. 23, 2026.
John Richard Stoever, known affectionately as John to his friends and family, passed away on February 12, 2026, in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, at the age of 62. Born on September 7, 1963, in Elmhurst, Illinois, to the late Virginia and Robert Stoever, John led a life marked by dedication, kindness, and a love for the simple joys of nature and craftsmanship.

Growing up in a close-knit family, John was the beloved brother to Steve, Tom, and Donald Stoever. He was a beacon of strength and friendship, qualities that he would carry with him throughout his life. John attended high school in Lombard, where he began to show an interest in building and creating, a passion that would define his professional life. Furthering his education, he became skilled in manufacturing technology through the DuPage Area Vocational Education Authority (D.A.V.E.A.), which set him on his career path as a highly respected tool and die maker and CNC machinist.

John's work was more than a job, it was a reflection of his meticulous nature and his desire to shape the world around him. His hands were rarely still, as he was often found tinkering in his workshop, building intricate train sets, or enjoying the serenity of the outdoors. John was always ready to lend a hand or offer a kind word, embodying the true spirit of friendship.

In his personal life, John was a devoted family man. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Debra Stoever, with whom he shared a deep and abiding love. John's legacy continues through his daughter, Judi Stoever, who inherited her father's kind-heartedness and friendly demeanor. His brothers, Steve, Tom, and Donald, will remember John as a man of integrity and humor, someone who could always be counted on.

John's life was one of genuine connection. Those who knew him will remember him as a man who was not only handy but also kind and friendly. his presence was a source of comfort and joy to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

As we say goodbye to John Richard Stoever, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life filled with purpose, warmth, and the unwavering love of family and friends. His spirit will live on in the memories of those who loved him and in the beauty of the things he built and the natural world he so cherished.

A Memorial Visitation will be held in John's honor on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at The DuPage Funeral Chapel, 951 W. Washington St. West Chicago, Illinois, 60185 from 2:00 - 6:00 PM.
