Martha Evans

Martha M. Evans, age 84, a longtime resident of Lombard, Illinois passed away on Saturday, January 30th, 2026. She was born on November 2nd, 1941.

Martha dedicated more than 30 years to teaching in the Chicago school system, where she made a lasting impact on generations of students. She was known not only for her dedication to education, but also for her courage and strong presence in the classroom. One memorable moment in her career reflected her calm authority and deep care for her students. After retiring from full-time teaching, she continued to share her passion for learning by teaching part-time at the College of DuPage.

A talented artist, Martha generously donated several of her works to raise funds for charitable causes. In retirement, she also volunteered in the St. Barnabas Church office and was an active member of the Mary Martha Chapter of Daughters of the King. Her faith and service were important parts of her life.

Martha had a wonderful sense of humor. When asked how she was doing, she would often reply with a smile, "Not bad for an old lady." If someone jokingly asked whether she had been behaving herself, she would proudly answer, "No!" Her wit and warmth brought joy to those around her.

She cherished her beloved kitty, Scooter, who was her constant companion and a great source of happiness.

Martha is survived by her many dear friends and extended community who will miss her deeply. She was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara and her parents.
