Patricia Elouise Guthrie Stoever, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, in Park Hill, Ok, at the age of 72. Known by many names, Cissy to her family, Patti to her childhood friends, and PR to her nurse colleagues, Patti was a vibrant, free-spirited soul who touched the lives of many.
Born on June 21, 1953, in Tulsa to Bennett Marion Guthrie and Virginia (McWhirter) Guthrie, Patti grew up in the small community of Park Hill, OK, where she graduated from Tahlequah High School in 1970.
As a young woman, Patti embraced adventure and lived life on her own terms. At just seventeen, she boarded a plane for New York to attend the iconic Woodstock Music and Art Fair, an experience that embodied her love for freedom, music, and all things adventurous. True to her spirit, she graduated high school early and moved to Dallas where she attended what she called her “finishing school,” a place where her independent spirit began to blossom. While living in Dallas, she met the “love of her life.”
Her professional journey took her to Bacone Nursing College in Muskogee where she followed in the footsteps of her mother and became a Registered Nurse. Patti dedicated much of her career to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa where she worked both in Recovery and the Heart Catheter Lab. Later, her work as a traveling nurse allowed her to explore new places, including Florida, Nebraska and other states, further enriching her life with stories and friendships from across the country.
Patti’s passions were many. She loved the Texas Longhorns, the beauty of yellow roses, the timeless sound of old country music, and the carefree tunes of Jimmy Buffett. She was also a devoted animal lover, particularly fond of the many Australian Shepherds she cared for in her life. She loved eating Mexican food and going through the Sonic Drive-In, not only for her meal, but also a burger for her Aussie. She was known for her love of the casino slots where she was almost always a winner. She had an infectious laugh, genuine warmth, and was never a stranger to anyone. She had a way of telling the truth, no matter how blunt, that only made you love her more. Whether on the phone or before you walked out the door, she always said she loved you.
Patti was preceded in death by her parents, Bennett and Virginia Guthrie, and her husband, Dr. Wilbert W. Stoever.
She is survived by her daughter, Jaime Looney of Fairfax, OK; grandson, Evan Barnett of Claremore, OK; brother, Bennett Guthrie II of Park Hill, OK; nieces: Becky (Tom) Prag of Tulsa, OK and Krystle (Greg) Smith of Springdale, AR; great-niece, Cassidy Prag of Tulsa, OK; and great-nephews: Connor Prag of Oklahoma City, OK, and Slade and Rowan Smith of Springdale, AR, and a host of friends.
In honor of Patti’s memory, her family will celebrate her life and the beautiful mark she left on the world. Her love will live on in the hearts of those who knew her and were touched by her boundless energy and unshakeable spirit.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, 9101 S. Harvard Avenue, Tulsa, OK.
