Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service & Cremation Care CentersKaren Janice Morrow (née Haworth), known as Janice to friends and family, moved on peacefully from this world September 15th, 2025 at her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Born September 16th, 1956 as the only child to Ura and Hazel Haworth, she spent her early years in Oklahoma City before the family move to Muskogee. There she would graduate from Muskogee High School, and join the West Side Church of Christ, where she remained an active life-long member.
She attended Oklahoma Christian University before marrying in 1976 and moving to Tulsa. Soon after, she welcomed daughter Melissa and son Matthew, becoming incredibly active in both children's education and extracurricular organizations.
Having fond memories of her own time as a young Girl Scout, Janice became a troop leader and member of Oklahoma's Magic Empire Council; the sisterhood in which she would develop deep friendships and close personal bonds lasting the rest of her life.
At one time the second highest ranked sport archery instructor in the state of Oklahoma, Janice taught archery at numerous all age summer camps, and was invited to visit the Olympic training center of the 1996 Atlanta Summer games.
As her children grew to adulthood, Janice allowed herself the time to further pursue a passion for science and the natural world. She began work at the Tulsa Zoo as a volunteer docent, providing park guests with insightful knowledge and traveling to local schools for live animal demonstrations.
After transitioning to a full-time employee in various departments, Janice would eventually become the Zoological Supervisor over the Commissary, where she worked for 22 years preparing, sourcing, and formulating the specialized diets of the Zoo's entire animal population.
An avid reader, maker, and baker with an innate spirit of fun and humor...she loved exploring, discovering, and making fast friends.
She is survived by her children Melissa Morrow and Matthew Morrow; daughter-in-law Jerrica Morrow; and numerous beloved cousins.
Memorial services will be held October 23rd at 11:00am at Schaudt's Funeral Service, 5757 S. Memorial Dr. Tulsa, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any contributions be made in Janice's name to the Tulsa Zoo Memorial Bench program.
