Homer Booth Obituary

Homer Booth, 68, of Midland, passed away on November 6, 2017. He was born Homer Lee Booth, Jr. in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on May 14, 1949 to Mary Buzzard and adopted by Rudolph Buzzard, Jr. He graduated from Bridgeport High School in Bridgeport, Ohio. After high school, he served in the Army. Homer attended Ohio University where he met the love of his life, Linda Carol Crooks. They were married on November 23, 1973 and lived in several different states and overseas before settling in Texas. Homer worked in several industries including coal, steel, construction, and oil and gas. His career spanned through several companies including Wheeling Steel, Fluor, J-W Operating, Farstad, Oxy, and Cameron. He was an extremely hard worker and those who worked for him had a great respect and loyalty to him. Homer graduated from Letourneau University while working full time and taking care of his family. Homer enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family. He was a dedicated loving husband, father, and grandfather, an extremely generous person to all family and friends, and a caring compassionate person willing to help others. He will be greatly missed by his daughter and her family. Homer was a source of strength and encouragement. He gave unconditional love to them. He is survived by his daughter, Gwendolen McGowan. He was preceded by his wife, Linda Booth; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Buzzard Jr.; and his brother, Charles Buzzard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in Homer's name to Lone Star Sanctuary for Animals 4200 N. Fairgrounds Rd. Midland, TX 79705 or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Homer, who I affectionately called Boots throughout my younger years (he hated it as he got older) was my big brother and my best friend when I was growing up. A role model on both how to get into trouble and how to be a good person he was always there when I needed him growing up. I loved him then and love him now.
