Jerry Stuard Obituary

Jerry Stuard
11/14/1947 - 03/29/2025
Jerry Stuard, a devoted family man and respected law enforcement officer, was called home to the Lord on Saturday, March 29, 2025, in Midland, Texas. Born on November 14, 1947, in Snyder, Texas, to John and Violet Christine Stuard, Jerry grew up with a strong sense of values and was a hardworking man.
As a young man, Jerry farmed often with his father. He had a special passion for farming and loved working on his family's farm in Midland, Texas, where he helped his parents raise cotton. Jerry's mother instilled great wisdom in her twin children, Jerry and Mary. Their father taught them the value of hard work and gave them guidance as a family.
Jerry pursued a career in law enforcement, serving as a sheriff's sergeant and working for both the city and sheriff's departments. Throughout his career, Jerry earned a reputation as a courageous and respected officer, known for his unwavering commitment to protecting the West Texas community. He was a pillar of strength and integrity, and his selfless service earned him the admiration and respect of the community. Jerry particularly enjoyed his time serving on the mounted patrol unit, where he could combine his love of horses and law enforcement.
Citizens and fellow officers around Midland-Odessa often admired Jerry's conduct as an officer. He was a man of strong character, who always fought for what was right and truthful. Jerry also loved reading world history and learning about the Wild West.
Jerry's life was forever changed when he met the love of his life, Sharon Stuard. He was drawn to her kind heart, her love for family, and her unwavering support. Together, they built a loving home and raised two sons. Jerry loved taking Sharon on trips to the lake, where they would relax and enjoy each other's company. After Sharon's passing, Jerry deeply felt her absence, but now they are reunited in heaven, where they will continue to share their love and devotion.
Jerry was a rock for his family, always there to lend a helping hand, no matter the circumstances. He took care of everyone, providing love, support, and guidance whenever it was needed. Jerry was also a welcoming father figure to all those in the family, sharing his wisdom and experience with kindness and generosity. His selflessness and devotion to his family were inspiring, and his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.
Jerry is survived by his sister, Mary McDonald; sons, John Stuard and his wife Kathryn, Damon Stuard; grandchildren, Tate, Reagan, Brittani Stuard, Austin, Turner, Caroline, Meredith, and Shannon; nephew, Dusty McDonald; niece, Misty McDonald; and cousins, Teresa Chardola, Steve Rollins, Rick McNew, and Charla Redemeyer.
Visitation will be at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home on Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2025 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven North Cemetery. A reception will follow the graveside service at the Branch at npw. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them as they celebrate Jerry's life and legacy.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com.

So sad to hear of his passing. JD was always ready to help another officer when needed. JD was a good friend and colleague. He also had a great sense of humor and I enjoyed having a cup of coffee with him at the SO. You will be missed, my friend.
